How to Align with Yahuah’s Calendar in a Modern World
If you haven’t already, check out my previous post about why January isn’t the true new year. It explains how the Gregorian calendar differs from Yahuah’s calendar and why His timing matters. This post builds on that conversation, offering practical ways to honor Yahuah’s calendar while navigating the systems we live in today.
Now, fair warning—this post is packed with insights, but hang in there! By the end, you’ll have plenty of tips and encouragement to keep moving forward. Let’s start by addressing some of the most common objections and questions that come up when transitioning to Yahuah’s calendar:
Objections and Scripture Responses
"Does it really matter which calendar we use as long as we follow God?"
Shemoth (Exodus) 12:2 – "This month is the beginning of months for you, it is the first month of the year for you."
Honoring Yahuah’s timing helps us stay rooted in His Word and mindful of His appointed times, rather than being swept away by the world’s systems.
"I’ve always celebrated New Year’s in January, and it’s just a harmless tradition."
Marqos (Mark) 7:8-9 – "Forsaking the command of Elohim, you hold fast the tradition of men."
"And He said to them, 'Well do you set aside the command of Elohim, in order to guard your tradition?'"Traditions can feel harmless, but when they conflict with Yahuah’s commands, they can lead us away from His truth.
"Doesn’t it all come down to personal conviction? I feel fine celebrating in January."
Yirmeyahu (Jeremiah) 17:9 – "The heart is crooked above all, and desperately sick – who shall know it?"
Romiyim (Romans) 12:2 – "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind."While personal conviction feels comforting, scripture reminds us to align with Yahuah’s Word rather than trusting our own understanding.
"If everyone celebrates the New Year in January, why should we do something different?"
Mattithyahu (Matthew) 7:13-14 – "Enter in through the narrow gate! Because the gate is wide – and the way is broad – that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter in through it."
Just because something is widely practiced doesn’t make it right. Yahuah calls us to walk the narrow path, even when it means going against what the majority is doing, to stay aligned with His truth.
"I didn’t know about the scriptural calendar—doesn’t God judge the heart?"
Ma`asei (Acts) 17:30 – "Truly, then, having overlooked these times of ignorance, Elohim now commands all men everywhere to repent."
Hoshĕa (Hosea) 4:6 – "My people have perished for lack of knowledge."Yahuah understands our ignorance but calls us to grow in knowledge and obedience as we learn His ways.
"If January isn’t the real new year, why does God allow so many people to celebrate it?"
Qoheleth (Ecclesiastes) 8:11 – "Because the sentence against an evil deed is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is filled in them to do evil."
Yahuah’s patience in judgment doesn’t mean He approves. Instead, it gives us time to recognize and turn away from what is not of Him.
Practical Tips for Honoring Yahuah’s Calendar
Navigating life in a Gregorian world can feel challenging, especially when daily functions—like work, school, and meetings—are tied to a different system. Yet, with intentionality, we can still honor Yahuah’s timing and live in alignment with His Word.
Mark Yahuah’s appointed times: Set aside time to observe Passover, Feast of Trumpets, and other key dates, even when they don’t align with the world’s holidays. Observing these days can help you realign with Yahuah’s Word and rhythm.
Use a dual-calendar system: Add biblical months and appointed times alongside Gregorian dates in your planner or calendar app. This approach allows you to manage work, school, and other responsibilities while staying mindful of Yahuah’s calendar.
Celebrate Yahuah’s appointed times, even if you’re alone: Start small—read scripture or share a meal with your family to honor His appointed times. Yahuah values your heart and effort, even when the world around you doesn’t follow His ways.
Teach your children about Yahuah’s calendar: Introduce biblical months alongside Gregorian ones, using visual aids, devotionals, or stories to help them understand His timing.
Journal your reflections: To support this journey, I created The "F" Words Journal—a tool to help align your faith, family, fitness, and focus with Yahuah’s Word. You can explore how it works by downloading a free sample here.
Embrace progress over perfection: Adjusting to Yahuah’s timing is a journey. Small, consistent steps make a big difference and bring you closer to His purpose for your life.
Take a moment to reflect: How do you feel about the way you currently mark time? Are there ways you could better align your life with Yahuah’s calendar?
If the Gregorian new year left you feeling behind or discouraged, remember this—you still have time. Yahuah’s true new year is a season of renewal, offering a fresh start to realign with His purpose and promises.
Walking in Yahuah’s ways is a journey, and each small step you take brings you closer to His truth. You don’t need to have everything figured out at once. Let’s embrace this season as an opportunity to reset and prepare for the biblical new year together.
Shalom,
